This looks like something I’d really like to do, but how fit do I have to be?

If you can do the following, then you’ll have no problems fitting in with the type of group we are aiming to bring together for this special sailing tour:

  • run a mile comfortably under 8 minutes
  • hike an 8km trail with 1000m elevation gain in under 3 hours
  • cycle 60km (on a trail bike) with sections of 200m ascent at 5-10% grade

What should I bring? How much can I pack?

In short: the less the better. Anything you can fit in to a small carry-on size luggage, or a backpack would be fine. Apart from the usual travel items, you may want to bring extra sunscreen and perhaps some insect repellant. We provide towels and linens and pillowcases, but you’re welcome to bring your own if you prefer. As for footwear, non-marking shoes only please, while you’re on the boat, as well as no heels. Rain is rare in this region between June and early September, but you may want to bring a light rain jacket or windbreaker.

What is included in the price?

Price includes: all boat operation expenses (fuel, water, electricity, marina fees, ice), experienced & licensed captain, 1 set of towels & linens, end of tour cleaning;  first day’s welcome lunch aboard the boat & goodbye dinner, What is not included: transfers, bike rental fees, and entrance fees to museums or side-trips, meals & drinks (other than above).

Where do we meet on the first day?

We will meet you at the ferry dock on Spetses island at 10:20am. If you miss the ferry please let us know as soon as possible either by phone or email so we can make alternate arrangements. The ferry from Pireaus to Spetses runs every 2 hours (38.50 euro), but it is important to reserve your seat as soon as possible. The return transfer to Athens will be from Nafplio, which has an hourly bus service to the central KTEL bus station in Athens for roughly 20 euro.

My spouse/friend/children want to come but do not want to participate in the physical activities. Can we still join?

We’d prefer if everyone who joins this sailing tour is passionate about their fitness and excercise, but we understand that not everyone is similarly inclined. The activities we describe in the tour are all entirely optional and self-directed, so if your partner or friend or relative does not want to join you in the activities, then of course you’re still welcome to join the tour together.

Can I join the tour as a single?

You can certainly join, but you’d need to cover part of the cost of the second person since pricing is based on double occupancy, and we will not put you in a cabin with someone you don’t know. The single supplement is 50% of the normal price.

Is smoking allowed on the boat?

Smoking is not allowed anywhere on the boat. Not only is it a potential fire risk but we much-prefer a smoke-free environment, and hope you do too.

I’ve never been on a boat before… is this for me?

We would advise that your first experience on a sailboat be a daysail, not a week-long adventure. That way, if you find you’re not suited to sea motion and confined spaces then you won’t have to endure 6 more days of it. Having said this, a catamaran has a gentle sea motion and if you love being in and around water and enjoy camping for a few days at a time, then you should have no problem adjusting to life aboard our boat. You may just find a new passion!

What are the accomodations like?

There are four double cabins (one at the front and back of each hull). Each cabin has a locking door, stand-up headroom (up to 6′) and approximately a twin-size mattress. There are also 2 washrooms (one in eash hull), with pressurized hot & cold water and manual pump toilet.

Do I need to know how to sail?

No. We provide an experienced, licensed skipper and crew to handle all boat operations. But if you want to participate, or learn a bit of sailing we’d be more than happy to show you the ropes.

Do you provide accident or health insurance?

No. While the tour activities are physically challenging, they are not inherently dangerous. If you want absolute peace-of-mind during your holiday, it is best if you arrange health and accident coverage for yourself before you leave home.

I know how to sail, can I book the boat for myself and a few friends?

Depending on your dates, we may be able to take you and your friends on a private charter. But we provide the skipper who knows the boat and the surrounding waters well.  We do not offer our boat as a bareboat rental. If you’re interested, please contact us for availability and pricing.
